Iranian researchers succeeded in producing highly effective polymer nanoparticles

The director of the Medical Nanotechnology Group at the Motamed Cancer Research Institute announced the success of the center's researchers in producing polymer nanoparticles and said: "Engineering the structure of these polymers has been carried out for the first time in Iran and even globally, and this achievement can be an effective step in treating infectious diseases and cancer more quickly and with fewer complications."

According to Radio Salamat's public relations, Zahra Mohammadpour, senior researcher of the project and director of the Medical Nanotechnology Group at the Motamed Cancer Research Institute, added in the "Greetings to Life" program of this radio network, referring to the many years of activities of this complex in the field of women's health, especially breast cancer, "For the second consecutive year, we have succeeded in achieving first place among cancer research centers in the country."

He stated that in this research, nanocarriers made of polymer with a special structure were designed, and continued: In addition to their inherent antibacterial properties, these nanoparticles are enhanced using natural turmeric extract (curcumin) and can transport the drug to the site of infection like a cargo truck.

Mohammadpour continued: Tests showed that these nanoparticles are able to carry a large amount of drug with them and have greater effectiveness with a lower dose. This feature has led to better treatment with fewer side effects and faster drug delivery.

Referring to the existence of similar foreign samples, he emphasized: Structural engineering of these polymers has been carried out for the first time in Iran and even globally.

Mohammadpour, in response to a question about the implementation stage of the project, said: We are currently in the laboratory stage and very good results have been obtained. With more support, we hope to enter the animal and human phases.

The director of the Medical Nanotechnology Group at the Motamed Cancer Research Institute concluded by stating: "To enter the production and use stage in medical centers, we need to obtain a license from the Iranian Food and Drug Administration, which will take time."
